Either that or you could have another issue some where else, maybe the headlight circuit. These things do strange stuff sometimes.

Steve at BikersDream can't seem to find it either, but thought it was around 3 A. But I'm thinking it was lower for some reason. But who knows, I do have my :loony: days! :lol::lol::lol: Steve just said that he thought is was more like 2.5 A Max too.
You might want to go pick back up what you through out earlier. :lol:

No I haven’t had the tank off as of yet. I will look under the tank in the morning. The after market horn I put on is rated for 3.5 amps and that appears to be what it's drawing. I just don’t remember what the OEM horn was rated for. Thinking this could be drawing down the circuit?

If it work for a little while, say more than a month, I say that most likely "NOT" your problem.

kool, i dont know if your 03 horn is the same as my 04 but i just checked it and it is 3.5 amps.i took mine off to mount my air ride pump in its place.we dont need no stinking horn:cheers:

oh one more thing,my engine use to die out when i applied my front brake.found wire short in control housing

That’s what I was afraid of. :( Thanks for looking Mobsta. :2thumbs: That’s exactly what my replacement horn is rated for. :confused: Looks like its going to be a long road ahead for waykool if I want my friggen horn to work. :bang:

Got to be a grounded wire then draining the system. Have you traced the wire all the way up to the wiring loom? I don't have the 03 wiring schematic but I think Bikersdream posted it the other day somewhere here.

Were any other changes done at the time you did the horn that might effect the system?

Brake switch power input line, and that's a strange symbol, seen it many time before on BDM schematics, but I'm thinking it's a "Zener" Diode.

But hey, I could be wrong because it doesn't look like any electronic symbol that I've ever seen, so who knows!

Night Train would be a Good one to ask on that one! :2thumbs:

I guess what im not getting here is if one side of the horn is power and the other side of the horn is grounded to the frame if you energies the circuit wouldn’t that create a dead short

That's what I understand our systems are. Ground based adapted from the airline industry. You basically short out a component to have it operate.
Thats where NT's expertise comes in and glad we have him here.
