How do you get the battery strap off the bike? Seat is off, terminals disconnected and cant seem to find a way to get the strap off.

My 06 K9 has a rubber strap around it. Pull down on the strap and the little metal ring will unhook from the mount. Not sure if there the same though. And "Welcome Aboard" :hi:

Chief. Remove the side covers (battery box side cover) and you will see the threaded bolt connected to the battery strap on the bottom. Here is the fun part. You will need a gear wrench or patients to remove the lock nut on the strap. Hope the picture helps. You will need a gear wrench or patients to remove the lock nuts on the strap. Remember to remove both nuts. If you try to remove one side and bend the metal its very hard to regain shape and fit back over the battery. Hey Steve that info is really helpful !!

This is going to sounds like a really stupid question.....but how do get the freakin battery side covers off without breaking them? I have removed the two obvious screws under the seat, but there must be more.

Thanks !!!

There is two screws on top remove them. They are under the rubber inserts to the back left and right by the rear fender.
