No Brake Light with front hand brake

I already did the search and looked over the threads. This is what I got, obviously no brake light comes on when I pull the front hand brake. So I take apart the hand control and test the little wired magnet sensor to a regular magnet and whala, I get rear brake lights. But when I button everything back up, and pull the brake lever I still get no brake lights.

I do not have a little set screw of any kind holding the sensor in. I cannot get the brakes to light up by putting the magnet by the Big Dog magnet in the hand lever either. Only when I hold a magnet near the sensor itself do I get rear brake lights.

The foot brake works just fine.

Any ideas.....

there is a set screw so you can adjust that magnetic contact closer or farther to the housing. got to look for it.

also check where it connects to the board.

might of broke contact

Yeah I can't remember if it was a screw or something but you can adjust it so it sits closer to the other contact. Just gotta look for it like Marv said.

Is this set screw on the inside of the hand control? I definitely don't have one in there. It's a new circut board too (I thought the old one was bad/brake light not working).

Isn't the little black thing on the inside of the hand lever the magnet?

Yes and what ever you do, make sure you have the sensor wire back far enough so that when you pull the lever back, the magnet does not come in contact with the sensor body. Otherwise it will brake that magnet off from your lever. Then you most likely will have to buy a new one:(
Turn your key switch on so you have power to all your lights....
With one hand on the lever and the other holding the sensor wire pull the brake lever back so you have about 1/16" gap between the lever and the housing. Now move the sensor back and forth until you get your brake lights. When the lights just come on, that is the location you should set your sensor.
You will need to find the set screw to hold that in place.
Not sure on the thread size? Anyone know the size of that set screw?

I had this problem and just played with it as the boys say til I got it right. The set screw is very small - I couldn't see mine, just the hole it is in.

Hey THANKS Tech, I'll have to get that hand control opened up again and find that set screw. I did notice that there was a threaded hole right next to the sensor hole on both sides. 1 was for the mounting bolt, but the other threaded hole was empty and I dont see how that could hold a sensor next to it.

I'll have to post up some pic's this weekend when I can dive back in there.
