running lights and dash lights but no start

I made a stop yesterday and 04 pitbull would not even click when I tried to start.I tried to push start by myself,no luck ,even less fun.I hauled it home and it started right up. Now nothing again.I cleaned and tightened battery connections and reseated the plug to the piece of crap computer . The dash lights and running lights work but no headlight or blinkers and no start.The second yellow light from the right on the box under the plug is lit. The speedo boots up and I see 49443 before it goes to odometer . Can some one point me in a direction to start checking this?

Have you checked your bat?
Do you keep it on a tender?
Have you checked the circuit braker from the VR?
Have you checked the out put from the VR to make sure you're gettin a little more than 14 volts at charge while the bike is runnin?
Batteries will do wierd stuff to us

could very well be the ehc!what kind of battery is it and how old is the battery?make sure before you condem the ehc.

thanks for the info, battery is fine. i keep it on a tender. I will try the circuit breaker but im thinking it is the ehc.

ehc is black and I havent found that circuit breaker yet. still looking.Talked to a guy at the Busted knuckle in Rural hall NC he said he could "chopper wire it" but he is covered up for the near future.

there is no breaker that i know of on an 04.if your ehc is history go with the wire plus kit from bdmridgeback{jake}right here on the site,that ehc sounds to be the original,i have the updated and its yellowish,good luck if theres anything else we can help with just ask,does your low beam work or highbeam,or are both out?

hey slip,one other thing on the ehc connection make sure its clean and moisture free and add die electric grease,also make real sure the connector is down all the way.

Battery voltage?

Check the EHC connections. They should be clean and full of dielectric.

Load test your battery before you rule this out I don't care if its new.

I put a good coat of die electric grease on the ehc pins and made sure ithe plug was seated good.Man that starter turning over was a sweet sound and the mean mothers sounded even better. Thanks again.

I have my moments...

Were the EHC connections dry? Old grease? What?

I just had another guy that called me last week. Washed his bike, now the EHC is all lit up. Told him to pull the EHC connections and he would have 1 of these 3 options.
1. Full of dielectric and tight (bad cause points towards other problems)
2. No dielectric no water (just grease and re plug, this causes bad connections)
3. Full of water with some dielectric (causes bad connections, dry out, grease up, reinstall)

his was #3. dried it out, packed it full of dielectric grease... GTG

Think its just that time of the year.
