Rear Tire Splitting

Yet another f'd up problem I have encountered. After 2K miles on this rear tire it is splitting apart on the sides only. Has anyone ever seen this? Looks like it is coming apart at a seam. Avon says they will replace it but I will believe it when it happens. It proves my theory......"tires or tits, it's gonna give ya problems!"

Got the word today that Avon has sent me a new tire free of charge. They also want the tire shipped back at their expense. The install is on me but I am greatful that they are standing behind their product.

Thats kinda good news. If their product is defective though they should be paying the full price of replacement.
I'm definitely keeping an eye on mine.
Thanks for the info

Some Shops get close to 100.00 to install/mount , even though you get a new tire that could get $$$$$ keep this thread going ,

I plan on removing the tire/wheel myself, all they have to do is remove the tire and mount the new one.

Thumper I have a thumbnail pic up already. Just click on it.

New tire installed at Avon's expense. All I did was ask. Go figure! I am back on the road! Thanks for all your input.

Its funny how we as customers have to do that sometimes. Can't really blame them though its tough makin money in this economy so if the customer doesn't ask for it then why offer it.
Glad to hear they took care of it though. Its speaks volumes for their customer service and makes me glad I switched back to them this time.

Were your tire is splitting is in the tread splice. That part of the tread is the wing ending (it has different rubber stock than the middle of the tread) This is a manufacturer defect caused by either bad rubber stock or a curing problem. They will replace it free of charge. If one tire in the run did it more than likely they will be more of them. Avon should recall the tires in the run.

Hey Mickee is there any way for us to know which run our tires came from?
