Hey guys,
I have a custom sissy bar for a 2005 Chopper that Eric from Choppin Steel just created a couple of weeks ago. For those of you that know of Eric's work, it's second to none!! For those of you that DON'T know his work, a simple search on this forum will show you a bunch of stuff he's done, or you could also visit Choppin' Steel to see more of what he's capable of.
Here's the deal. I don't want to sell this... I absolutely LOVE it, but Eric and I had a bit of a miscommunication when I ordered it. I gave Eric a sketch of what I was looking for, and told him that I wanted it be be an 18" sissy bar for my 05 Chopper. He went to work on the design, and nailed it exactly how I pictured it in my head. He sent me the final mock up drawings, and I ok'd the production.
About a week later, I got the sissy bar in the mail, and although the quality of the bar was perfect, it looked shorter than how I remembered 18" sissy bar from the factory. When I measured the bar, it was, in fact, almost 19" tall. I was a little confused, so I took the bar up to our local Big Dog dealership and sat it next to one of the factory 18" sissy bars, and sure enough, the factory bar was taller.
Come to find out, BDM measures their sissy bars from the top of the rear seat, which means that the factory 18" sissy bar is actually more like 28" tall from top to bottom.
That being said, the whole reason that I got this was because my wife wanted a sissy bar. (She loves the look and also the feel of having something behind her while we ride...) We also decided that we're going to take a Summer trip to ride through Colorado, so we now have a travel bag that fits a factory 18" sissy bar from BDM. It won't fit on a smaller bar like this, hence the reason I'm selling it. Trust me when I say that I don't want to sell this... I LOVE this thing!
I've already talked to Eric about making me another one that's larger, and he suggested we put this one on this forum and sell it before he starts to build me a new one. Don't worry, when I create a new one, we'll change up the design so that you can rest assured that you'll have a one of a kind.
All this needs is chroming and it will look kick ass on your bike. Incase you can't tell in the pictures, the edge of the inside part of the design is sharpened to look like the edge of a knife. It looks awesome! $300 is the original cost to have Eric create it, and $300 is what it's going to take to buy it today.
