I don't as of yet have a manual. Thanks to the forum you guys have been a help. I now have an oil leak. Only seems to leak after I've been riding. I think it's coming from the primary side, I see oil running down from what seems to be between the starter & primary. Is that possible?

Are you sure it is oil or is it primary oil? Sounds like a leaky primary seal to me. I also think there is a vent. Make sure its clear so the primay doesn't build pressure.

Also there are o-ring seals on your starter as well. If the starter itself is showing signs of leaking fluid, I'd say that's most likely what the problem is.

PM me if you want the BDM manual drawing showing all of the o-ring locations on the starter.

Plus, I'm sure that BikersDream can send you the starter o-rings kit.

Hope this helps. :2thumbs:

How far from Binghamton, NY are you? You need help fixing the leak I would be willing to fix it for you, just give me a call.
I would look at the starter from below the bike, see if it has oil leaking out of the body facing the inner primary. If not there, most likely inner primary/transmission seals.

Don't forget the starter jackshaft seal. Look at the bottom of the starter housing and see if there is any fresh oil there, if so probably the jack shaft seal. Anyway thats been my experience.

I have a leaky one too, it was filled added new cover seals, road to the oyster run and had oil up on my back fender.I filled with 1 quart 32 oz, when i just drained the primary i got 18oz so im minus 14 :( ouch .

so what to look for is the question ??

ill fill it up and i run it on the bench for a while and see what happens, I spose if its a venting issue i might not be able to tell on the bench.

When mine developed a leak from the same area it was the seals in the trans

Have you found a source for the jack shaft seal. I know it is metric with a 13mm bore and 17 mm O.D.

No shit? :job: I thought that the only thing metric on this bikes were the 10mm bolts that come with the batteries. Is this an American made part?

Must be the little secret parts inside.....I guess it takes little bitty hands to make those little bitty parts. Can't be done by Americans. Hands too damn big! :job:

I just had a starter installed, now I the same F'n leak, mech.says it's the main gasket, but when I reach under the primary to the backside I feel oil up on the "inner case"twards starter,I don't think oil runs up.

It may run up in the land of Downunder, but probably not in NY. :job:
