Help identifying a loose fuel line see picture

I need help identifying a fuel line that I found disconnected. Not sure if this is the vent line or where this connects to. The fuel line was tucked under the battery box it has a hose clamp on it but I could not find where this gets attached to. See the picture and yeah thats my sons hand helping dad out..

My question also. Can you take a pic of what it's connected to or explain it, or is it not connected on either end?

It is connected on the back bottom of the engine block, it was routed up under the battery tray with a hose clamp on it.

Are you sure it's a fuel line and not a crank case vent hose that was attached to your air cleaner?

:2thumbs: Theres your answer. Just a braided vent line. The line does breathe though, sucks in and vents out. Might want to get some sort of breather/filter of the open end to prevent debris from get sucked in.

Just my 2 cents

You can get rid of the hose and just find a breather filter that fits your engine. Or shorten the hose and attach something like this. It probably used to attach to a fitting on the bottom of the stock air cleaner. If you have an after market air filter on it now, it looks like they just left the hose loose behind the air cleaner. But take a look and see if there is a nipple on the bottom of your air cleaner that it attaches to. Not a big deal, you could just leave it hid behind the air cleaner like it was if you don't want to improve it.

I was having problems with the bike felt like fuel issue decided to start looking through the carb and found this line loose. thinking if this is the breather hose why would there be a hose clamp on the end? it was never attached to anything that I can identify. I have read alot on the vent line clogging so I may look at getting a filter. Thanks all

I have the same set up on my stock S&S G carb it connects to the stock air filter backing plate. The vent line that is known to clog is the tank vent line from my experience, and it can/will cause some fuel delivery problems.

So if this fuel line has been disconnected since I have owned the bike could this be an issue? I have had the bike over 2 years and have had a couple of issues since, with it stalling like a gas problem. not sure what part of the backing plate it connects to, I will go look at it to see

the person that had it before was lazy and when they changed out to the cone air cleaner there is no place to attach it too. Get yourself a small air cleaner for the end or just route it back toward your tranny and secure it so it doesnt rub anything. Just dont put it to the ground or shit can get into it and end up in the bottom end of your engine in your dry sump.

I still have the stock air cleaner, my D&M is on the way. I had some issue with the bike shutting down on me seems to be a fuel issue from what I think. Just started looking through the bike to see what could be making the dog stall... I took the carb apart tonight to check the float everything seems to be good with the exception of this line that was left dangling. I looked at the braket on the plate and found the connection not sure if this would cause the bike to stall.

Paul if you get that D&M filter on your bike you will probably not have a place to hook up that crank case breather hose so you will need to do something like the attached pic. Also you may need to adjust your carb or rejet to get it just right.

Still trying to figure out why it has been stalling. I pulled the carb float and drained the fuel out. checking all fuel lines, still looking for the gas tank vent line not sure where that damn thing is. I plan on doing something like what you got on yours. The crank case vent was disconnected for some time. Would the vent line being disconnected have anything to do with it stalling? it doesn't seem to be clogged.

Paul, if your bike has the gas tank vent line then it will exit the tank on the lower (underside) right side. You'll see a flange there with a black hose that goes back under the seat and then to the charcoal filter that was required on all Kalifornia models. But your bike may not have this option so you may not have a vent line.
