Sissy Bar Pad/plate

I was wondering if there is a way to keep the Back plate and pad in place while riding without a passenger?

I'm just jealous because I don't have a pad and plate yet. So do they tend to rattle off?? I sure don't want to lose the damn thing once I finally get one.

You will need to drill out the back pad mounting plate and install a locking screw on each side or you run the risk of losing your pad as I did. You can use rubber coated wire cable with an eye at each end and a flat head security screw to attach your pillion pad but you are going to have a hard time keeping it from vibrating off and hanging off the bike. Better to just get a luggage rack with a nice collapsible leather sissy bar bag and keep your pillion pad in that until needed.

I lost a pad/plate after dealer replaced sissy bar; BDM replaced the pad/plate then too...
I used electrical tape along the mounting area, just for a added grip (same concept as foam tape), its stayed in place for around 12k miles fine so far. I just red locktite aside from that. I thought about mig weld the plate (extreme) to JBWeld or epoxy....I don't ever take the pad off for some reason, despite not having a passenger 99% of time.

I ride with it on all the time, with or without the rear seat, and a lot of times use the sissy bar pad to hold my backpack and luggage.

I have thought about drilling a hole into the back plate on each side and into the sissy bar and putting a couple of self tapping screws into it so incase I want to remove the pad the plate is still attached for looks. What do u think???

Have you had a blown motor, how about a rear belt come loose and scrape the crap out of your frame paint, because the mechanics an idiot, ever loose your pillion pad going down the road? Your blessed Linx llike my buddy Howard. He's had his 03 chopper for 6 years now and hardly an issue with anything. Unfortunately, some of us aren't so blessed we have to take those little extra precautions so it seems like were blessed, like you guys, when all we're really doing is a little CYA work

Just installed mine last week, seems to be on there pretty tight but we'll see.

I lost one last year and chipped the rear fender a bit when it fell, second one on now with loctite blue. It will be something i watch now for a while.

Ive also lost one of the big dog bags as it only had velcro holding it. I was always going to add snaps and then it was gone with my lock.

Its not that the pad plate bolts come loose it slides down the sissy bar with vibration to a wider spot and drops off onto your fender i think im going to try the 3m double stick tape.
