Ok guys, I've searched around and am not sure where else to look. I've got what seems to be a very odd speedo problem. It sweeps etc. when I turn the key on, shows the calibration code and acts just like it always has. I had the new ehc/flash 2 years ago and its all worked flawlessly since (never have had an issue, got a good dog).

So, when I take off from a stop, it sits at 0 for a period of time, 5 seconds maybe? As I get up to a level speed, it jumps up to the speed I'm going. Its not off, if I'm doing 45, it'll show 45. If I hold the speed it'll stay there, if I speed up it'll stay at 45, then jump up to say 65 (if I'm doing 65). Basically it's always right...its just not in real time! Also, my odometer quit--kinda. I was as 8454 when this odd stuff started, suddenly I was at 8455...I rode another tank yesterday and I'm at 8456.

I pulled the sensor outta the tranny, cleaned it off (wasn't dirty anyway, but whatever) and have checked the connections at the ehc. I haven't pulled the tank or taken apart the speedo as I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows the fix before I go tearing the damn thing apart.

Thanks guys!

Sounds like you're getting terrible gas milage to me. One mile per tank? I think if you install a 400 gallon tank, you should get about 100 miles per tank. You may want to consider a sidecar or trailer.

Speedo is done? I figured that may be it, as its obviously getting some signal and a correct signal, just not displaying it correctly.

When your speedo acts up does your tach do weird shit also? If not then sounds like your speedo is having issues. If so then mine does this when the battery is dying.
Check out Chacha's thread on pulling the speedo apart and verifing that the three wires inside are still soldered on good. Many of these speedos suffer from vibration and one of the wires breaks loose and cause these problems.
I have a thread in the How To section on breaking it apart also.

Still you should pull the speedo bucket apart and verify that all the wire connectors are solid. Fill them with die-electric grease when you put them back together.

I gave up on Autometer and when with the Dakota Digital from Don (Mad Dog). It's so much better and I've put several thousand miles on it already this year including some nasty/heavy rain without an issue.
