I have a gas cap on the left side that is stuck in the paint saver. I can turn the chrome top cover but the cap itself is stuck in there. Any ideas on getting it out and i would like to just put some nice pop ups and be done with it. What are the best ones and does anyone have that paint saver tool they wanna loan out for a week or so. Thanks

if the chrome cap turns on the plastic then the pin is not holding, you can use a plastic wedge and mallet to remove the paint savers if you cant get the tool.i gave my last one away sorry, can you use upward force while turning the cap to maybe get the chrome cap off the plastic, just a thought but the screw probably has loctite on it.good luck:cheers:

There is a little screw inside the plastic part of the cap that holds it to the undeside of the chrome part. More than likely it is loose and thus not allow the cap grab the plastic right and thus the spinning. Suggest that you put some gentle pressure between the paint save and the outer edge of the chrome cap so that the pressure may hold the screw with enough tension so that you can screw it off from the chrome part. The screw that holds the chrome cap to the plastic part is regular thread so when you get tension on the chrome part you will need to turn the chrome counter clockwise to remove the screw from the chrome. If you do get it off, than you may be able to get to the plastic part and screw it off.

Maybe get a strap wrench where you can grab the plastic and carefully get it loose.

Ok, to make this simple as I can, as an old tool maker use to say , Righty - Tighty, Lefty - Loosey ! It sounds stupid but easy to remember.
