grinding sound after clutch cable install

Hey guys, ive got a buddy who just installed a new clutch cable on his 05 pitbull. Well weve both researched this from the many threads with no luck. After install of the clutch cable and doing the pushrod adjustment there is a grinding like sound when he starts his bike up. Even in neutral. Didnt have this problem before the cable went bad. We are stumped! Any ideas fellas?

Could the pushrod been improperly installed?

It's possible...but really don't think so. Did it over five times.

What was the FIX! please.

Clutch hubnut came loose. had to torque it back up with some red loctite. It was grinding on the inside of the primary cover.
