Melted one of the poles on my battery and need a new one brought it to auto parts store and they couldn't cross reference it. Anybody put a new battery in that they're really satisfied with. I have an 07 K-9 LE. So how many cranking amps do I need?

Thanks
Got a 300 mile trip on Friday and I'd like to have this fixed before going.

Need at least 280 amps. I bought a Interstate battery 310 cca for around $100.00 Harley makes a battery that will fit also. A lot of members on the board are buying the Braille battery. They swear by them. I've had my interstate battery about a year and a half and haven't had any probelms

I would go with the braille from Don if you have the time. If not the Interstate battery number is cytx20hl-bs

I think Eric just got a Braille from Summit. If mike can't hook you up in time for your trip maybe Summit can.

I also went with the braille. The battery went south at 1 year old, they had me a new battery in less than a week after I informed them of the problem.

I got the Harley AGM. Took old bat in and they matched it up. Cranks great. Think it was around $119.

I just put the Interstate battery in mine while I was in the process of the wire plus conversion. "Wow" the battery cranks it great. It cost like $112.00 total. I did get the better one too, just a few bucks more. Ray likes the Interstate and the fact it might be easier to get if you need it fast.

It just sounds good running again !

I bought the higher performance Interstate 310cca and it performs very well. The post sit in further from the battery side so you need to use the provided spacers but then the bolts were a bit too short for all the extra wires on the post so I bought longer bolts at the hardware store. $120 and it has a 3 year full replacement warranty.

UPDATE 4-10-11
The interstate is 9 months old and has been on a charger during storage and disconnected from the bike. reconnected to the bike and it tried to start but just clicks. It reads 12.6 volts across terminals. IT'S JUNK. Will try to get a warranty replacement but my reciept is buried in my storage locker.

Bought a Interstate CYTX20HL-BS (U-fill-it) 310CCA for $89.00. Will see how long this one lasts. You need to fully charge it after filling. Filling it only gives a 70% charge.

I think my maintenance charger is the culprit.

Just replace my battery last Saturday, got the Magna Power from the local Advance Auto, less that $100 . Made by EPM the same manufacturer of Interstate, Braille, Big Crank, and their own brand Deka. The one I put in was the ETX20L, notice the part number in comparison to the Interstate. Do the research East Penn Manufacturing makes just about every battery in the US then other people buy them and slap their labels on them and sell them for a wide price range difference. Anyway the only reason I didn't order one on-line was my local Advance Auto was less than a mile from the house. My original battery lasted for 2 years, and OH I think it was made by EPM as well. EPM also makes most if not all of Harley's batteries.

I ordered a Magna Ext20l from abatterystore.com 310CC for 59.95 and 11.00 shipping. My original battery is still in my 07 mastiff and this is the 4th summer I've had the bike and its still cranks it over. Battery tenders do work. I ordered the new one for a spare cause I have a feeling it will die next week in Daytona.
