replaced cable about 2 months ago, always been tight but snapped couple months ago. all been ok until last week, started getting popping from clutch housing when pull clutch in. did settings several times, pulled apart housing all looks good. then pushrod started to feel in bind and very hard to pull in clutch. stopped at stop sign and loud pop and slack in cable, when pull in clutch now, pushrod seems to be in bind and grinding noise from primary when pull clutch in.

in process currently to pull clutch basket and inspect. any ideas?

Maybe the trans mainshaft snap ring came off and allows the manishaft to slide out towards the clutch pack.

clutch basket

Clutch hub nut may have come loose and you may want to check your bearing carrier, I believe some others had bad carriers on 05 models. Unless you've upgraded to a bandit clutch... Just saying. Check out this thread for what the bad carriers looked like. Hope this helps...

Don't have my manual with me but I think the NUT is inside under the outer assembly that you see in the photo. Maybe someone can send you a clutch assy diagram.

Is there alot of shaft endplay?

i have manual, showing clutch nut on end of clutch basket, but not there. cannot remove clutch basket.

Yes, there is about 3/8 inch play which causes the clutch basket bolts to hit the primary cover.

Looks like it could be your hub nut has loosened up, you need to remove the clutch in order to get to it could also be as BigDog said also.

OK, Thanks for all of your help, found clutch nut and it was almost all way off. to get to it on the 06 K9, take off the c-clip retaining ring in front of the throw out bearing assy and remove the throw out assy, Clutch nut is behind it. (FYI- Ring is larger clip that pressing in to remove).
