brake light failure crazzy blinkers

i have been reading all about ehc on forum my bike is 03 pitbull had no real
problems till sat. was riding with my son he told me my brake lights were
not working. started home blinkers were coming on with out me touching anything i could cut them off with switch then emerg. flashers came on
pulled over cut bike off started up no brake lights still but blinkers stopped
coming on for about 30 min. then started back doing same thing..weather
was dry battery is good ,check brake switch with meter all worked fine
took bike out sat. after about 30 min. blinkers going crazy again..
from reading back thru the forum im almost sure it is ehc what u think??
can i get a direct replacement from thunder heart ? i have a trip planned starting thursday to the coast then east or west depending on coin flip
need to resolve fast ..thanks for any and all help

03 taillight wiring ran inside the fender. Many here inclucing me when I had my 03 had rubbed (shorted) wires here. 04 and later they moved this wiring inside the strut to eliminate this problem. I would check your wires and ensure they are rubbed raw creating a short.
See LDO's post were he ground out a channel inside his struts and move the wires here like the later models.

Well, the good news is that if you go to a WirePlus for an '03 model, it's just plug and play!!! :whoop: The only wiring you'll have to do is the few that go to the dummy lights on the dash. I did my wife's '03 Mastiff.

I can't remember what the WP costs. Jake can give you a quote from this site (bdmridgeback). The installation takes about 3 hours from start to finish. It includes tank removal, unplug EHC, plug in new WP and secure, rewire and solder dash/dummy lights, install tank, ride like hell.
