No start just click (Wire Plus installed)

I have checked my battery as a matter of fact swapped battery out with a new battery same click. Check the volts and both are reading at least 12.7 V. When I hit the start the green light flashes on the WP unit and just hear a single click.
I am going to take both batteries to have them tested just to rule the battery being the problem. I haven't messed with the bike and it was running good this weekend. Not really sure what could cause this unless both batteries are crap!

its not anything to do with your alarm agin is it? didnt you have this issue awhile back & found it was the starter kill feature on the alarm .. possibe the clicking is the compression release your hearing..

Yea I was wondering also if it was your compression releases or the starter soleniod.

That's an easy check to do before you remove the battery. Just reach over the top of the rocker box and feel the compression release when you press the start button. If it is the starter making the click, then take a reading on the battery as you push the start button and see if it drops to extreme low levels.

brad, I checked the compression relief not really sure what to look for though. I also checked the battery with the start button depressed and it read about 11.7 the before reading was about 12.62 V. I can feel the compression relief lifting while the start but is depressed.

So, can we assume that the "click" noise you are hearing are the compression release valves? If so, sounds like you're not getting power to the starter. Have you checked the green wire that connects to your solenoid? Make sure you have a good connection. Sometimes those will work loose.

this is the EXACT same situation that is now happening on my brothers '04 Chopper. Hit the run button, then the start button. Just one click, that's it. We were able to get his bike push started thank goodness (we were about 250 miles from home). He took his bike into Stroker's yesterday- for the second time on this issue. The first time, they told him that his battery was connected wrong. WHAT?, sure. :job:
That supposed "fix" didn't last long. Started the "click" thing again when we rode to Oklahoma City. Now, they are saying that his starter solenoid is the culprit(works intermittently) this, even after we cleaned the copper contacts on the solenoid. They tested the wire going into the solenoid at 12.9 volts. Sooo, in lieu of buying a several hundred dollar starter, they will be installing the $60 Lowdown manual starter button on the solenoid this weekend. According to Strokers, that will remedy the problem for good.
Stay tuned...

Does using one of these eliminate the use of the push start button on the grip or do you have to push the start button and this manual starter button at the same time? Just curious.

just turn the key on, hit the "run" button and then, just the manual starter button. the "start" button on the handlebar sends an electronic "signal" to the solenoid, thus activating it. there is no need to use the start button on the handlebar when using the manual start button on the solenoid.

This converts electrical energy to mechanical energy putting this on will give you the option to bypass the start switch at the handle bar switch. Start, run, push button if the starter wont turn over with the mechanical button then you either have a starter problem(drag) or battery or cable being bad. Nice trouble shooter for sure.

With a Wire Plus installed, you won't have to push the "run" button either. Just turn on the key and push the manual starter button.

Alright, I am convinced its the starter solenoid. I ran a jumper wire from the positive positive post to the solenoid. the damn thing just clicks and the plunger does not engage. I am going to clean the contacts. The batteries are good BTW.

I woodnt ride without one as it eliminates the soleniod totally is difficult to push on a K9 or a regular twin cam but it has saved me more times than I can count you dont have to push the run button if you manually hit the compression releases either best 35 bucks you can spend
