Once again RC Advantage. They have templates of the button plate to match with yours. The starter size doesnt matter its the solenoid that matters. The starter on my 04 is 1.4kw and the button for that starter did not work.I used the temple and no problem. This button is the best $60 you will spend, however with my hd softail battery with 425 cca's I havent had to use it.:2thumbs:

The solenoid is an electromagnet that when energized....pulls in the starter gear to the ring gear and closes a heavy duty contact to energize the starter. If the solenoid doesn't pull in then the starter contacts won't be made and NO starter turn on. If the solenoid windings are shorting out, opened or mechanically binding the slide movement then even the above starter button won't work anyway.

At least that's how I understand the way it works for cars. A MC starter should be the same.

Always remember to push the compression releases or it will flatten a battery reel quick
this wont solve all the starter issues but if you have a lower than hot battery it will give you the advantage of not having to power the soliniod coil which will sometimes save you and get enuff juice to get you home real easy to install to just remove the soliniod cap three screws and install ...the spike one requires you to adjust the plunger but thats simple enough to

alright the starter is bad, took the starter to a local shop they cleaned it up and had it bench tested, it barely turns over. new one is on order, man if it's not one thing its the next..

Now I'm wondering what the " click " noise was. Maybe good solonoid maybe not. Bad solonoid tried over and over could give low valtage to the starter windings ruining it couldnt it?

Just a thought, male sure all those little pins are connected "completely engaged" inside the plugs.
