My Super Fast Speedo

The speedometer on my 05 Chopper has decided that I'm going 140mph at all times. Goes to zero when I'm stopped, but goes back to 140 when I reach about 3mph.

Anybody has this happen?
If so, did it turn out to be the sensor, or the speedo itself?

I'm sure somebody on here has dealt with this.

Yup...Mine started the exact same thing in Daytona...07' K-9. It was a good thing the factory truck was there, we talked about it for a while....said this was my THIRD Bigdog...and all three have done the same thing!!!! Asked the rep just when BD was going to address this problem they have had since 03'....and got the run around about they would have a fix shortly. (same thing I heard in 03'). Then he told me about the new speedo's and how great they were....and I could buy on of those....when they could figure out a price??????
SOOOOOO, I said never mind...I just ordered a Dakota Digital last week.....Done with BD Speedo's !!!

I'm selling the bike, so I don't want to drop the 250 into it to buy the dakota digital (will on the new one though). I'm just trying to figure out whether to replace the speedo, or the sensor.

Quick qestion too. When you replace the speedo.......what happens to the miles on the bike? Does the computer tell it what it was before, or does it start at zero?
I'm curious because I rode mine for about a month with it saying I was going 140 all the time----------------added many miles that aren't actual.:angry:
