Clutch adjustment & funky noise

Replaced a broken clutch cable today. Been reading all the threads on replacement and adjustments but are still having some issues.

Tightened and then backed off a 1/4 turn, followed all directions. Started the bike up, placed it in gear let the clutch out and the bike started to move forward. The transmission seemed to make a strange sound in the friction zone. I didnt want to drive it due to this noise.

Any ideas on this issue?

I followed on to adjust the clutch to various increments but always heard the same noise. After probably 10 attempts throughout the afternoon the bike now cranks over once, the horn beeps once and all blinkers flash. I've hooked up the charger hoping that the battery might be slightly drained.

Has anyone come across any of these issues? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks

Battery hasn't given me any issues. Used Mobil 1 synthetic on the pushrod.

Sorry about the intro, gave one on my first post. Purchused 05 Pitt in September, live in S Carolina. This is my first non Jap bike, love riding it but realizing that these bikes arent as reliable.

Take some time and go over your bike. Check connections, bolts, etc. These bikes can be reliable as the owner. Its like havin a hot rod, ya got to keep it in check.

Plenty of threads on here about service, maint, etc. Its free for tha lookin and everybody will chime in with a sincere answer for a sincere question.

Welcome to tha pound, my worst prob with my 05 pit was gettin sideways comin out of the driveway all the time. :hi:

Not to change the subject, but does anyone know where I can get new valve cover bolts for my 07 k-9? The original ones are rusting inside and looks like crap!!!!!
