speed wobbles

Has anyone ever experienced speed wobbles on these bikes, i am interested to find out. I went for a ride today and found that any thing over 95mph the bike got the wobbles ,tyre presure front and rear wheel seem ok, on the straight it happens a little but in a turn there was nearly one less big dog biker today last time i rode it on the same road it was fine the only thing i changed on the bike was i mounted a tool bag on the front frame could this be the problem or do all these bikes handle a bit shabby at higher speed.

You shouldn't be getting a high speed wobble. I don't think the tool bag has anything to do with it - unless you have lead or some heavy Kangaroos in it maybe....
I haven't taken the wifes Coyote to those speeds (similar to the Mutt) but I have the K9 plenty. I'd check your alignment and fall-away for starters. How many miles on it - bearings good I presume along with fork oil serviced as needed?

I get some wooble on a expressway sweeping turn at high speed when I hit a bump or expansion joint. All has been checked..fork fall away, tire pressures, etc. After having the fallaway retightened the wooble is nearly gone now. Now that I know about it I prepare for it. Check your front wheel bearings as well.

I've had my K9 in triple digits many times and on occasion there is a slight wobble, nothing major or scary just a slight wobble if I hit a bump in the road.

I get it. Could be any of a number of things as already suggested - wheel alingment, tyre balancing, worn tyres, tyre pressure, front end etc. Check all these things

I got a wobble on my K-9 at about 120. I get it on my 2010 Bulldog at 100. You just get used to it.

Not here. Been over 100 a few times and was just holding on hard to not be blown off the bike.

I'd have to say mine is doing that, and has been since I got it. Not the best feeling in the world, especially after falling victim to a crash from it last year. Tire pressures are all good, bearings better be new, and only 560ish miles on so far. Too cold now to troubleshoot, but I'm going to test the fall-away and try tightening a little like BigDogBro1 to see if that helps. Also have dyna-beads ready to use next year incase it is a tire balance issue. Not sure what else to do other than hang on tight and hope, which isn't the most fun way to ride all the time.

After doing what Lee recommended making sure the alignment is true then "square up" the front end.

Loosen up (slightly) everything on front end from lower triple tree down. Then have while sitting on it and keeping it square have some one push you into a wall and when the front end compresses lock up the rear brake. Not front one though. Then have someone tighten everything up and let it go then go over it with a torque wrench. We have torgue values posted on here and you can search them out.

On my long summer trip Kaptain Amerika and I were over 120 many times and pretty much averaged 95 on the whole trip after doing both our bikes this way.

Not here. Been over 100 a few times and was just holding on hard to not be blown off the bike.

Barhopper ..... the reason it blows you off your scoot is because your 7 ft tall and your chest is like a wind sail ...... you need one of those large profile windsheilds for your scoot...

Mine gets the wobble. It is worse in a turn. I've gotten used to it but it stil scares fellow riders.

Thanks for your help the mutt has 2000 miles on it ill check the fall away and see how i go seems strange i did the same ride a week before at same speeds with no problem maybe somthings came loose.

I was in Myrtle Beach for the spring rally and there were about30 bikes which pulled onto 31. Everyone opened it up and so did I. That was really the only time I have "stretched" it out. My buddy on a road king blew a head gasket trying to keep up with me. Not trying to blow my horn but i did wax every Harley in that group. I went into 6th gear very close to redline and had a slight side to siderocking motion. very minimal and a slow rock back and forth. No wobble and nothing shaking in the bars. I don't have any idea how fast I was going but I remember hitting 6th gear when the speedo had just buried. I do however get a bad wobble in a turn right or left 60mph and up. It gets hairy. My 2 sometimes.

I don't want to find out if my 05 Ridgeback will wobble. I only had it up to 96 mph and it was solid. Jake how about your Ridgeback ... any wobbling? :up:

This has happened three times, twice going over the pass on a high speed right hander, third time also on a corner, all three times the road had some imperfections in it, all around triple digits and with full camp gear strapped down.
