Anyone here have any ideas about seat comfort? mine feels like I am sitting on steel with leather over it.
Hey Tex. A couple of things here. First, take a few minutes and introduce yourself. There is a place under the forum tab just for introductions so we all know who were dealing with and you can get to know us. Next, you're hijacking this thread. If you're having problems with your Dog and need some help, choose the closest forum topic and start your own thread so we can all focus on just one issue at a time. Welcome to the site!

BIKERDAVE......I've had trouble with 45 south Mancuso mainly, but also 59 south too.....BTW, Anthony don't work there anymore as of Oct. 2010.....Jeff Jordan was a total dickhead and wouldn't make right on anything....Alot of factors involved, but basically all pointed back to the dealership 100%....they worked on the shift forks and didn't put any oil back in it and I picked it up and rode about 200 miles with only 3 oz's of oil in it, which was probably what Anthony poured over the top of the gears b4 he put the top back on the transmission....I paid cash for the work, as I always do....I picked it up after hours and the 2 guys that waited for me pocketed the cash and deleted the service ticket. I didn't get a copy of the ticket, cuz I figured it was in their system and I felt I didn't need one,,,,wow, lesson learned there. Anyway Jeff said since there was no record of anything and he wasn't obligated to have to fix anything, even though everyone there confirmed it was there for transmission work and that it was done and even confirmed I picked it up after hours that day....He proceeded to tell me that the problem was that I had too much horspower and that that alone voids any and all warrenty....Plus he told his higher ups that he was told that I was an extremely abusive rider and that I tear up every bike I get on...What a fuckhead.....First of all, my bike has pipes, head work, carb work, a .640 cam and different, lighter titanium pistons....I didn't know what kind of HP I was getting, but it does haul ass.....I resently ran it up on dyno at Mancuso 290 and it put out
128 HP.....NOT the 150-160 horsepower that Jeff told his boss it was putting out and that was why it was torn up repeatedly. It all stems back to Anthony not putting oil in it and frying/crystalizing the gears in it and one by one they broke and wrecked the transmission a total of 4 times till it finally locked up on me going down the highway.... Bad deal and I will never take it back to any Mancuso for anything.

BACK TO THIS THREAD:
I went home yesterday evening, pulled the battery checked every connection, grounds, EHC, neutral switch plug....I recrimped everything just for the hell of it.....put it all back together and everything worked flawlessly....I did find that 1 of the wires on the relay on the key side of the bike a little loose and the big ground on the starter also was not too tight. Other that that, everything else seemed ok. Now previously, I couldn't go more that a mile or so from the house b4 it would quit on me, so I know that something I did had some impact...I rode for a while and finally got up on the freeway and had went about 10-12 miles and it quit, but as soon as I touched the key it picked right back up and I rode on....about a mile later I exited off and as I did I started wiggling the key around and same thing, it quit and then picked right back up.... I didn't mess with anything on the ignition switch or coil, so i know that some of the things I did do made a difference, I'm thinking it's a key switch problem. I briefly checked the wires I could see/feel without taking off the motor mount and really checking the connections.

ONE QUESTION: Can you replace the key switch with just a toggle switch, or is the BDM switch more high tech than that....I was think about either hiding a toggle somewhere or putting in a toggle and putting in a kill switch somewhere else on the bike....i hate keeping up with keys, and besides, if someone wants it, they will just pick it up and be gone with it in 30 seconds.....I know this first hand.

Hanging alot of junk from the key will make it fail as well.

Any good quality SPST/SPDT switch will work. It's the heat/vibration that causes the switch guts failure problems.

The switch makes the connection to a ground which causes a low (ground) level signal to the EHC and tells it to turn on.

For a test: You could bypass (jumper hard wire) or use a small toggle switch the switch temporarily and see if you still get the problems.

This may fit in Bigdog cover stock hole. Call Hobbs and get better dimensional data.

These might fit but you'll need to check the dimensions yourself to the BDM switch hole.

Yes you can. I actually put a toggle switch on mine as a jumper to diagnois the BDM switch problem and mounted it under the coil cover on the coil mount. You couldn't see it and I could just reach under the cover and flip the switch with my finger. I end up putting a sportster switch that Jake recommends for the Wire Plus, in it since I was planning on changing to the Wire Plus harness controler anyway.

OK, the problem appears to be solved.....I just put a toggle switch in the hole where the key hole was for the time being.....I am not waiting for and EHC problem in the future....Although mine has been upgraded to the newer gold one....I have ordered a wire-plus kit and gonna eleminate the EHC for good...

Thanks again guys for all your help.....once again proving the brotherhood of the bike and the worth of this great website.....

Mancuso SUCKS PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!
I did buy my bike there, but have never been back. Once they sold me the bike that's where the "caring" ended.

I just got mine bike out from sitting about 6 months and i have a similar problem but mine is not the key. i will be riding down the road and all the sudden i have to spark. everything on my speedo still stays lit. while the engine is still being turned over from me moving down the road if i hit off and run the engine will back fire and start running again? also when i come to a stop it seems like the engine will start running on only one cylinder, will take no gas and finally stall. i hit off and run start it fires right back up and runs fine again. this happend about 30 times in about 30 miles. now i was starting and stopping alot.

i'm going to look at all my connections to my battery. i think might might be something sorting out? would mine possibly be the battery? mine was on a maintainer but i think my battery is orginal.
