electrical issues?

I'm sure this is prob covered somewhere but with all the different electrical problems listed here (in this forum) I've spent 2 days looking for answers. So if it is listed elsewhere I apologize.

I have a 2008 pitbull. During a pre-ride check... cranked it up and everything seemed fine. Tested the left blinker, then the right and when I turned the blinker off the brake lights came on and will not turn off. Any ideas/suggestions?

ALSO - this forum is full of really nice/helpfull people BUT there has to be a better way to find specific info without spending hours looking though threads.

try hitting both blinker buttons at the same time. this is the way you turn on the emergency flashers, they may just need to be canceled. ????????

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try this. Actually, now that you mention it the flashers don't seem to be working now either. Crap. I guess I'm gonna try and take it by the shop today.

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes then reconnect it. This may help reset the EHC. The EHC is continuously connected to the battery so it monitors the keyswitch input to turn ON.

Make sure your battery reads 12.6 to 12.8 volts minimum when at rest.

First of all, thanks for all the reply's.

I got so fed up I just started taking things apart...bound and determined to find the issue. I finally got to the front brake lever and when I took the housing (starter/blinker/etc) a small plastic cable-like piece fell out...and the brake lights turned off. I have no idea how the darn thing broke...it's in a protectve housing?? Oh well, now I just need to get a new circuit board thingy.

Thanks again.
