Electrical- Possible EHC issue?

Hi all. New to the forum and have found a lot of damn good info on here. Thanks to all for your time and advice. Anyway........

I want to swap out my stock tailights/signals for smaller, and much cooler looking, lazer star xs. However, I have been told by a couple individuals that doing so will more than likely disrupt the EHC and cause problems. I specifically asked BD if this were true and what could be done to avoid such a problem. Those a-holes simply responded with "we've only tested the stock lights on the system you shouldnt change them." :job:

SO...has anyone changed their lights to anything aftermarket, other than HD replacements, and if so what happened? Am i getting the truth that aftermarket lights will jack up the electrical? Does anyone know why (details)? Can anything be done to avoid said troubles?

BTW my bike is an 05 Chopper.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Do you have any technical specs on these new lights?

BDM is going to cover themselves from being liable for any problems that maybe caused by aftermarket parts... nothing most companies would do. You should actually contact the part manufacturers and see what they say.

Ya I understand the cya reply from BD. Its just frustrating they cant offer any help in addition to their disapproval.

I dont have tech specs for lights but I am in contact with the manuf. and hoping they can help with insight. If and when I get tech specs would you like to see them Bubble?

I found some basic specs on J&P's site. The XS can be ordered with LED's versus incandescent bulbs so, I would suspect you would be fine. The biggest issue will be ensuring the loads created by the new lights would be close to the stock lights. LED's do not create high loads.
