floppy brake lever

how to fix a floppy front brake lever??
saw a couple of posts on this issue but not a solution that was fully explained other than something about the magnets?

in & out such that the wind pressure blows slop out of handle and brake light comes on unless you hold the lever out with 1 finger all the time.

I was told the spring in the front master cylinder is worn out. You'll need a rebuild kit. I have seen some with a spring lodged in between the lever and the base. Seems to work for them. The light pressure will push the lever back in place.

about a half inch at the end of the lever. I have tried to get a compression spring to hang out between the lever and the brake reservoir housing but the angles aren't there to keep it in place. thanx for the help, I guess no easy solution or adjustment

Yea that sounds like something going on with the brake master cylinder actuator rod.

check the breather hole and make sure its not clogged. might not be getting any air in as the brake pads are wearing down.

My Pitbull has started doing the same thing, lever is not floppy but the brake lights either come on or flicker unless you hold pressure on it. I have looked it does not appear that anything is behind it and mine is snug - it just pushes hard enough that it triggers the lights a lot of times. I am lost other than taking the lever off and cleaning the contact point to see if that helps any.
So I take it that there is not a way to adjust the actuator rod to take just a little pressure off of it?

i was told that if u get the rebuild kit ,that the new spring is a heavier spring just because of that problem.don't know for sur emine does that every now and then .

Actually the magnet actuator can be adjusted. I've done it on mine to solve the same problem.

What he said, you need a rebuild kit and that will take care of your problems.

I just removed the lever and gave the actuator rod about half a turn as if I were screwing it in and when I put the lever back on it seemed to work until I completely had lever back in place. (was great with pin not locked into bottom hole) Seems that the only options are to find what rebuild kit works, replace whole unit, or try grinding the actuator down a bit - not sure if last if an idea or not.

I replaced my controllers during a rebuild and yes the magnetic proximity switch is adjustable. from what I remember its sccured with a small set screw on the bottom of the controller.

Be very careful with that ceramic magnet, it will break if you look at it wrong.

I had the same problem on my '00 Pitbull. It end up being the front control was cracked on the bottom and gave just enough slack in the lever.
