When to Replace EHC

I check the battery with Volt Meter and it's fine. Battery is only 5 to 6 months old and stays on a Tender anytime the bike is in the garage. This is why I don't feel it's the battery causing this issue. I also checked the Regulator which I replaced last year. When the bike is running it's at about 13.89 at the battery, On the Tender it about 13.60 at the Battery, Battery by itself is about 13.50. The battery is still under warrenty too.
After the battery is OFF the charger a few hours, check the voltage again. It needs to be around 12.7 to 12.8 volts to be in good condition.

As mentioned earlier: Turn ON key switch...wait for speedo to RESET then START. If speedo isn't getting reset you may have a harness connection problem in either the POWER or GROUND wires going to the head.

When you turn on the key you should have left/right side marker lights front/rear come on. DO THEY?

If not measure for voltage at all connections from the bad light back.

Get a wiring diagram if you don't have one already and start checking out your problems.

EHC power feeds all marker lights/tach board/speedo and sensor/annunciator board and tach port connector under gas tank when the ign switch gets turned ON.

MAKE SURE ALL THE CRIMPS ARE CRIMPED TIGHT FOR THE WIRES THAT CONNECT TO THE BATTERY TERMINALS.

TUG ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I just got a message from BDM and they don't have a the new PDM for a 2007 K9 yet. Said it should be released in about 1 to 2 months.

You may not need anything to replace your EHC if you do a little troubleshooting. Plus you'll have $500+ in your pocket. If it's a harness problem a Wire+ or BDM unit won't elliminate the problems anyways.

Buy some dielectric grease and clean out then fill the EHC connectors for a start.
