Issues with a noise

Hope all is going well in your parts of the world. Bike is a 2005 pitbull (rsd) I have been tracking down a noise in the bike.. adjusted valves, and clutch rod. None of this solved the noise. So i just popped of the primary cover to see what was goin on there... to my discovery I found that the hub around the clutch shaft is rubbing the outer primary cover ( 4 bolts and the inside of cover are showing this. Is the clutch adjusted out to far or what? Severe help, as I just got the bike a few months ago and dont know who has been working on it.:bang::bang::bang:

Sounds like your clutch hub nut came loose. You need to clean the threads on the trans shaft and add red loc-tite to the threads and nut and torque that puppy tight...

Stock clutch or aftermarket Bandit?
Stock-
Pull the pressure plate off to reveal the clutch hub retaining nut and see if its loose. (lft hand thread) If it is, remove it, and clean threads with solvent and wire brush. Reinstall and torque to 150, then remove; put a gallon of red loctite on it and reinstall torgue to ~110 ft lbs, let dry.

If that's not loose, you might have trans issues; in which case others will need to chime in...I haven't been in mine yet.

Let us know if that's loose and check back....

clutch hub nut ? that being the nut that you loosen to adjust the shaft? If so thats tight I have just played with it again the other day, to no avail in the sound going away.

Ok looked threw the book to make sure I know the part, so the clutch pivot plate bolts are whats rubbing the inside of primary cover. So that needs to be removed to get to the Clutch hub nut? Does all the chains and sprockets need to come off or is there a good how to Im pretty mechanical

you can get to the clutch hub nut without removing the chain/sprockets....just remove the 4 small bolts on the clutch ...

I believe its stock, what is considered loose, it does not freely come off. Havent put to much ass into it but in I try the bike will roll

If the nut is tight then I would suggest you try pulling the assembly outwards and see if you have a good amount of play. Could it be the rub marks you're seeing is old from maybe the clutch nut coming loose when the owner before you had it?

Sounds like its tight then; you'd know if its loose I think....Also, grab a hold of your carrier and see if you can pull it outward and/or notice any play in it with the hub nut in place. Confirm no lateral movement. Spinning the carrier, motor, chain with the rear wheel off the ground - you shouldn't see that carrier moving around like it appears loose.
Try taking your clutch pack out and look at your carrier and determine if you have the old style (square holes) that is prone to breakage with a recall. It's possible your carrier is cracked all around the hub, causing the carrier to come outward to make contact.
There are several threads on here showing pic's detailing the difference between the old and new carrier.
Confirm which one you have.

so I took a look at the primary and clutch, could not find anything loose. Reassembled everything. I still here a noise. To me it sounds as if it is coming from the front jug, Head area. Thinking maybe I need to take a gander at the rockers
