Have an electrical issue with my 05 Ridgeback. Wanted to see if anyone has any idea as to what is going on.

The headlight quit working, no hi, or low beam, and the indicator on the speedo indicates high beam, it is illuminated. Also the horn quit working. Everything else works normally, and the EHC lights up like normal. Bike starts, runs no problem, rode it today. Keep it on a battery tender, and the battery is only a year old.

The only issue is the head light, and horn. Also has the original EHC with the recall complied with. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I had the same issue with my 2004 Mastiff, after running down wires and testing everything I found out it was the EHC. This winter I am having it replaced with the Thunderheart Micro Harness. Sorry to hear of your problems, but make sure you run down the simple stuff first and then work your way to the EHC.

Good Luck...

Sounds like either the socket to the head light melted down or the board in your handle bar got wet and shorted out.

Sounds like a bulb, hopefully nothing more, at least that is where I would start the search,,, I replaced my round headlight with the headlight for a wolf,, if you need that bulb you can have it,, it was working when I took it off,,,

Thanks guys, I will check the bulb first. The headlight I have is not the stock one it's an aftermarket, changed to this one when the springer went on. I'm hoping it is something simple. Will keep everyone posted. Thanks again for he input.

Well, I solved the headlight issue. I took the headlight apart, and found that the ground wire was disconnected. Basically there are the three wires coming in from the harness, and then three wires coming off the three prong plug.

The wires from the harness are a smaller gauge than the wires coming out of the plug I guess since it is an aftermarket headlight. Anyway all three wires from each end was soldered to their respective wire, and heat shrinked. Looks like the ground broke at the solder point.

Re soldered and heat shrinked, and the head light works as it should.

As for the horn, it still doesn't work. I did pull it out of the bike, and put a couple of leads on it, and hooked directly to a battery, and got nothing. So either it is bad, or that was not the proper way to test it.

It you ran 12 volts directly to the horn and got nothing it is no good. You can try tapping on it with a mallet and test it again.
If that doesn't work just smash it with a big hammer and throw it away.

Bring it over. Ill fix it!
Thanks Mike, appreciate but already got the headlight fixed, and just going to get a new horn from Gateway, that will be an easy fix as well. Thanks again, we need to ride sometime preferably when it gets cooler.
