My speedo and odo have been working sporadically for the past couple of days. I read a few threads and the logical step in the trouble shooting was to remove, clean and reinstall my speedo sensor as described in the how to service your big dog thread. unfortunately I did not pay close enough attention to the picture on the thread because i broke this (see attached pictures), Can someone identify what that is and where I can get a replacement? Thanks.

FYI, I broke mine just like your Oil Pressure sensor about 2500 miles ago. I purchased a new one but never installed it because I used locktite super glue on the plastic and held it for 5 minutes in place and it is still intact! Go figure.:D I keep waiting for the damn thing to break and it just sits there and works like a champ.

Ok, I replaced the oil pressure sensor with one from NAPA. I started the bike and the oil pressure light would not go out. do i need to reset something or did I do something wrong?

the replacement switch was not as long as the one that broke but the wise looking dude at NAPA said the lenght difference did not matter.

If your speedo and your tach are not working then most likely it is not your speed sensor. You might have a loose wire under your tank.

Oops, never mind. I just reread your post. My bad. Yes it could be that sensor if the speedo and Odometer are not working. Its located on the right top side of your transmission. Held in with and allen head bolt.

i undid the speedo sensor and cleaned it but have not had a chance to test it cause the oil pressure light stays on after i replaced the oil pressure sensor

These motors run with lower oil pressure than a car. With that in mind I would think the OPS should be one for an Evo motor. JMHO

that sending unit probably has a psi rating to high for the bike or works oppisite normaly open or closed(no psi closed vs no psi open) you would have to check for continuity with no psi on your new switch vs your old one

Excellent point...I would replace it with an EVO engine sensor. Autozone may have a lookalike but it may have a different low pressure trigger point and contact setup.

as always you guys make a lot of sense i ordered an evo one from ebay waiting on it. can I ride the bike or will it somehow affect the oil pump?
