Starter issue after wire-plus rewire

I've just completed the WP374 wire-plus kit in my '05 Ridgeback. I am confident I rewired correctly as I followed the schematics and everything works fine, other than when I hit the start button: The starter begins to engage and then acts like a dead short somewhere and will not engage to turn over the motor and dims the lights down. The first 3 lights on the module are lit up green, that's the ignition, accessory and lights. The next 3 lights, compression release, start input and start output, are not lit up but flash on when I hit the start button and then continue to flash if I hold the button down and the module makes a clicking sound. The battery is fully charged, and after I push the start switch, it almost sounds like a dead battery sound. The starter worked fine before the computer went to pieces.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like your battery does not produce the CCA's needed. Try a new battery first!

How long did the install take and dis you have the battery on a tender.

I did the install in a weekend, however the bike has set for nearly 2 months prior to that. The battery was and still is on a tender and appears to be holding its' charge. I haven't tried hooking jumper cables to it - maybe I should try this tomorrow.

Maybe before a new battery I should try jumper cables and another battery, but you may be right, thanks for the input.

It's a moot point if you can not verify you have the correct amps, but it is worth a try.

You need to be very careful jumping these bikes. As fickle as the electronics are, I believe I would check volts with a meter and go from there.

Might want to load check that battery. Good volts don't mean diddly...

Update: I hooked up a 2nd battery today with 450 CCA's. The starter tried to kick in and was trying to turn the motor - was drawing a lot of juice. I pulled the spark plugs and got the motor to turn over, doesn't turn over real fast, but at least it does turn over. I suspect the compression releases may not be working. Any thoughts or anyone see this before? Thanks.

If its dragging with the plugs out, it ain't the compression releases. Get the starter checked, assuming all wires are tight.

Might want to load check that battery. Good volts don't mean diddly...

X2. Unless you do a load test and your connections are good, I would always suspect the battery. Clean and check your connections. Load test the battery. Check for sticking compression releases but it doesn't sound like this is your issue.

Did you test this 450 CCA battery or is that what it is rated for?

Question: Does anyone know - on the wires-plus power module, the LED readouts that light up when I turn the key on, are the 1st 3 lights, their color is green,(its the ignition, accessory and lights). The next 3, (the compression release -red, the start input-yellow, and the start output-yellow), do not have any activitiy on them until I hit the start button and then they will flash on and off. My question is, should all 6 of these lights be lit up when you turn on the key? For me, only the 1st 3 are. Also, spark plugs do not seem to have spark to them as the engine rolls over.

Update: Load tested battery and found it to be bad. Purchased a Braille B2015 and the Big Dog came to life!
