Velocity Stacks??

Talked with a guy yesterday that had a velocity stack and not even a screen.

How long will a engine last like this? I can't imagine doing this is AZ with all
the sand. Even if there is a screen will these engines last very long???

It may run a while, but it will gradually lose power and have excess blowby. The cylinders will get scratched up and the rings will fail eventually. Reminds me of a buddy in high school. He used to drive down gravel roads with no air cleaner. :loony:
