Major clutch failure

Guys, need some advice here. I knew something didn't feel right in my clutch housing. So, while having some other work done I had my local bike shop open up the primary and this is what I found. A catastrophic clutch busket failure. It completely sheared off from the hub. Has any one else had this problem? I have hear it is somewhat common. Mine is a 2005 Ridgeback. Think there is any way Big Dog will pay for this (or Baker)? I don't know if there is warrenty on it or not. I bought it used in Atlanta from a car dealer. What steps have you taken if you have had this problem? I have to get it fixed before my poker run on the 15th of March. Any help would be appreciated. Below are pictures. I took some very high resolution pictures for Big Dog and/or Baker.

You need to get the new bearing carrier installed, the old design was to weak, and Bandit also offers a billet bearing carrier for the dog's, Big Dog should pick up the bill if you go to your dealer and get it replaced with their new one

Holy shit, that's nuts dude! :bang:

Show- what did it begin to feel like when the clutch went out?

Next time I have my 05 ridge into the dealer I'll have them double check that I don't have a defective one too.

I thought that the primary chain was loose and it was bouncing around in the cover. That is what it sounded like and felt like. I tightened the tensioner inside the primary but that didn't help. Then we pulled it apart and found this. If you are going to pull it all apart you might as well have them pull the basket and check for cracks or signs of wear.

Looks just like mine did. Mine was out of warranty and BDM offered to take care of it but I turned them down because I HAD to put ALL of their parts back in it to get it covered. I bought the Bandit Billet carrier and their clutch kit. Much better clutch feel. about $600 to do all the bandit stuff with gaskets and a new hub that the dealer damaged when removing the carrier.

BDM will stand behind it.

my clutch started slipping after the 600 cam install. bdmridgeback says get the bandit clutch, so I did, took it to the dealer today, pulled the clutch out and my basket was cracked in 3 places, didn't look near as bad as yours. (Thanks Jake) BDM will stand behind it. There was a recall on the 05 as far as i know.

My buddies just failed last week and big dog will only replace the carrier and WILL NOT pay for labor or other stuff like seal and fluid!!!

That was with him calling BDM cust. service too!

Wow, That sucks. They took care of me. Big Dog was only covering the carrier for me too but the DEALER (American Classic Cycles in Dothan,AL) said they didn't want to take any chances so THEY replaced my clutch plates, seal, fluid, etc. Big Dog did take care of my problem but the real credit goes to ACC in Dothan. They are the ones who went the extra mile for me. Guess it all depends on your dealer.

Show... if you can say... did you have to pick up the added parts or did the dealership work them in some how?

Dealership picked it up somehow. I guess. I didn't pay a dime when I left there.

Do any of you guys know if running Redline MTL in the primary will cause clutch slippage? I know this is a bit off subject for this thread but it's sort of related. Thanks, BBD

There is pictures of what the old and new bearing carriers look like around here somewhere, I haven't heard or read about the new carrier breaking.
