my manual says the same for all models...41,and 42.

The frame mfgr decal says 28 , and 28 on my Pittbull.

tried 41 in that rigid frame ,and bounced off in garage....
Def cant run MFG recommended on rigid frame. I have a Pitbull and there is no way I would fill to 41/42. I run around 28-30 for both.

Just to clarify, 41 and 42 are target pressures that are recommended. The actual pressure in the tire will fluctuate through out the day some.

Too Much Tire Pressure?

I have been riding for 53 years and in all that time I have never seen a more tire pressure sensitive motorasphalt,. I own a 2006 Big Dog K9, (the first model year), with the 300mm wide rear tire along with having a MH90 front tire. These two are very happy when they are properly inflated. When the guidelines are followed everything is fine. When the time comes to carry a larger load, like another passenger or luggage along with having a bedroll, the tire pressures must be increased accordingly. I have increased the pressure of my tires up to 6 lbs.front tire and 8 lbs. rear tire. This extra tire pressure is only used while the weather is cool. Once the temperature rises the pressures must be bled off to avoid these excessive damagingly high pressure.
The Summer is much harder to guage. Our tires will pick-up more heat than a rider will realize due to sun, asphalt, traffic. I'm sorry but I have just touched the peaks of the whole tires pressure subject in general. I've been too long-winded already.

I run with around 40 psi year around, no problem over 40000 miles. Run this with or without passenger, luggage etc.

28 PSI ? 28 Bar = 40 Psi

My Service Manual says 40 front & 42 Rear PSIs. (06 K9)

1. Low Pressures: :job:
a. Unstable, squirrely, too many corrections is my putt-putt.
b. Builds heat wink-wink and is good to keep the heat in @ over 100mph.
c. C cups the center and eats the sides sooner.

2. Factory Set: :whoop:
a. Most stable.
b. Least amount of heat buildup.
c. Even tire wear.

3. Over Inflated:  :loony: :D
a. Best mpg wink-wink 60 or over psi is not for sissies.
b. Wears out the center faster because you are so V is took out the C.
c. Least amount of a contact patch so wink-wink, captain skid control is skid the rear out like that and the front is so ice skate razor sharp if your balls match the inflation in the trousers setting is this be the setting.

We have´nt been talking about this subject for awhile... les start it again and see if there are new inputs...

The 300 has gave me fits it's a little more prone to wear and tire pressure is finicky, if I get above 38lbs it wears quickly down the middle. Taken me a couple tires to figure out the correct pressure.
Eric, so... what is the right pressure for even/long lasting wear???

I am running 40 front / 42 rear and yes, the rear wears quickly down the middle... specially because I´ve been doing long H/way rides.

If you run 42 in hot weather, wonder what the pressure will be say, after an hour of riding on hot asphalt ??. Next time you go riding. Check the pressure cold and then at the first stop...
