my ehc crapped on me and i've been told i can run without it. can anyone tell me what all has to have power for the coils to spark?

You will need to re-wire the whole bike if you want the Old School Chopper wiring. You can not just bypass the EHC with the Big Dog Controls and systems. If you put power to the ignition as you said in Axel's post, hope you didn't fry anything else.

well when i pulled out the ehc it looked as if it was arcing where it was bolted on..they weren't there anymore cuase it arced all the wat through them

i was told the ignition system itself was actually 12 vlts..is this not true?

If you are sure it is fried, you'll need to replace it. or rewire the complete bike old school.

If it were that simple, everyone here would just throw their EHCs out and wire it old school.....

Sounds fried, but does it still light up? Remove it from frame and test it away from where it is arcing....something grounded it out if it's arcing

its melted though..toast for sure..who sells new ehc's and how much are they?

Yup. Axel's EHC is pretty good at this point and a great plug and play replacement.
