I have a few questions about the Dakota digital BD-140
Does the BD-140 have a built in tach?
If so, is it plug and play? Is it a three or four wire connection?
My 04 mastiff did not have a tach but it did have a three wire connection under the dash that was not used that I believe went to an an analog tech mounted on the handlebars on the pitbull or the bulldog.
When I switch to the new RIP 1 that extra three wire connection is now gone.
So, do they sell an adapter that plugs in to the flat connector that goes to the indicator lights to pick up coil wire or will I have to splice into it?
Or, am I completely wrong here?

Im sure Curtis will come along and help here and clarify the RIP piece...but the Dakota doesn't have a tach, you will still need a seperate tach.

Now you have an 2004 the tach on the Chopper/Ridgeback and Pitbull is indeed digital and the tach signal comes from the ignition module not the EHC or RIP kit. I would suspect you can still utilize the igntion module switch to drive a digital tach that you mount on your handlebars. I can't imagine they would have made a different RIP kit for the 04 Mastiff.

On your ignition module you should have 3 bundles coming out the one with the red/green/black combo - That green wire is for the tach

Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though!

I have a 2008 K-9. My low fuel light stays on all the time. On start up the tachometer reads normal however when you come off idle the tachometer shoots to 8,000 to 9,000 RPM. Bad Tach Ring? Any thoughts?

The Speedo uses the stock location on my 07 Mastiff and does not include a tach as that is above the speedo in the mount ring.

That does sound like you may have lost the annunciator (board with tach and indicator lights)
