Name this part! 06 Mastiff

Obviously I’ve got a chewed up part on my 2006 mastiff, I have a service manual for this bike and the the chassis diagram does not identify this part, it is on the right side between the frame and swing-arm. Its closest to #4 on the diagram. I’m trying to determine what the purpose of this part is. Does this have internal threads? I’m hoping somebody out there has a picture, part #, or information that sheds light, because the service manual is of no help on this one.

Ok think I can somewhat answer this. What this part does is. It screws out against you pivot shaft bushing. Keeping your swing arm straight when you tighten your pivot shaft bolt down. I recently had issues with mine not being tighten down against my pivot shaft bushing correctly, and my bike was riding like a hardtail because the swing arm wasn't moving correctly because of it. What it's called I'm not sure, but I've been calling it pivot shaft bolt cover. Because the only thing inside of it is your pivot bolt.

But it is pat of the frame to my knowledge and cannot be replaced anymore.

Agree, looks like part of the frame and can't be replaced. No idea why that would be so scuffed up unless someone used an adjustable wrench or pipe wrench or something. Hopefully it is not an indication that there is an issue with your swing arm (pivot axle or bearings).

That’s exactly what’s happening with my bike right now it feels like I’m riding a hard tail. I can lift the bike and the rear suspension doesn’t move even a quarter inch. I’m trying to get as much information about this before I pull the tire and the swing-arm. Thanks.

I’ve already got new pivot axle and bearings just in case I have to replace them when I get in there It just seems strange to me that if this is such a critical item to the swing-arm that it would not be mentioned or highlighted in the service manual.

It may be sheared inside and causing a misalignment which may be causing the suspension to bind.

I went to the link and that is basically the same diagram that I posted with my chewed up part, the listing you provided was for an 07, the one that I posted was for an 06 but they show exactly the same thing and it does not show an internal breakdown of that particular piece, it does show the breakdown on the left side which is not where my issue is. But thanks you for the effort.

Consider this....you bought a used bike that someone else may have fkd up? Is it possible the ass end has been apart and put back together incorrectly? That would help explain the teeth marks on your mystery part. It may be part number 6 on the view you posted? Just misplaced...

Oh yeah, there’s no doubt this has been apart, and fucked up. #6 is in the correct orientation but could be wrong part or clearance of tolerance.

It looks like the rear tires’ positioning is very close to what it should be but I still think it’s about a quarter inch further to the right then what it should be. The Drive belt appears to be slightly riding off of the right edge of the drive pulley and into the pulley cover, so it could just be a matter of incorrect placement of wheel spacers. I wish the maintenance manual put the specifications for the spacers into their books, that way I could measure the spacers to see if they were in the proper position. I appreciate everyone’s comments and suggestions, I’ll post my findings as I go.
