Changing out my Vance Hines shot gun pipes on my 2003 chopper. When I pulled the back one off, there was a reducer in the head.see pic.my first time changing pipes. Any ideas what this is??Getting ready to install the BLOW exhaust that Eric sells. I don't know if to leave it in or leave it out. Help please.

Take it out if removable. Get a set of tapered exhaust gaskets(Eric should have those too). I just swapped pipes on the 04 Chopper myself.

Good looking bike. Thx for the quick
Response. Yeah the reducer was just sitting stuck to a standard gasket. I'm thinking it's a part used for the Vance Hines pipes. What's the advantage of the tapered gasket compared to the standard ones that came with the BLOW pipes?

That reducer is called a "torque cone". If you are going to run your new exhaust without baffles, they will help giving you some back pressure. You should have had one in both pipes.

Thx for the info. I learned something today. I haven't taken the front one off yet. When I first got the bike there were no baffles and the decell sound was crazy loud. So I put a 2 inch baffle in and took care of the decell clatter sound. Now that I know what those pieces are I can try different combos. I did buy the standard baffle they recommend for those pipes.thx again.

If you are talking about the baffles for the BLOW exhaust....I hope you like them more than I did. I put em on an took em right out. Blow sounds better without in my opinion. Tapered gaskets seem to seal better. Again, just my opinion.

Yes they are BLOW exhaust baffles. Did you have to retune after the install?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the BCT baffles with the blow exhaust? Everyone says how amazing they are for such a simple product. That might be a good combination.

I did try a few different combo's but just wasnt happy with the sound or performance. Someome else tried their "performance" baffles and I wanna say he took them out shortly after? I hope you have better luck.
Yeah that was me. DONT use the baffles.
