Welcome from Mississippi and also sorry to hear about losing your brother. All hope is not lost on the bike and everything can be fixed.
As HMan said the more info you can give us the more help we can provide. Lots of valuable knowledge on this site so you're in the right place.
Real quickly things to check, take the battery out and check to make sure it is not faulty (a lot of the batteries put into these bikes cannot handle the vibration or output required - Deka are one of the few that work well and last) load test yours and check output. Also there may be a circuit breaker that needs to be reset.
Let us know.

Welcome from NJ,
Just a little heads up since you will be troubleshooting the electrical systems on your bike. When removing the battery always disconnect the negative side of the battery first then the positive side and just the reverse when putting it back in connect the positive side first then the negative. Also it helps to take a picture of all the connections so you don't replace them incorrectly.
Since you probably don't know how old the battery is it may be a good idea to start out with a new one.

Welcome to the Dog Pound. Sorry to hear about your loss. He must have been a great Brother to leave you his sled. Lots of smart guys on this forum that can certainly help you out. Take your time when working on the BigDog. Take pictures of everything while you work on it. Year & model and pics are always very helpful. BF7CB211-6FAA-42D9-98ED-51B3FD2DE529.jpeg

You might check the green wire that goes to the starter solenoid. I've seen at least 3 times that the battery was blamed for not cranking when it was just that wire not making good connection. Not saying that is the problem, but it's about the easiest thing to check. I was called by a lady whose chopper wouldn't crank. she put a new battery in it and still no good. All lights and horn worked fine All I did was wiggle that green wire and she cranked right up . Runs fine w/o any more problems. Just sayin, easy thing to check.
