I don't know if you can do that or not. I
would imagine that they make it very difficult to keep people from tampering with the mileage. Curtis at wildsteedworx.com has replacement speedometers. He can have them sent away to have the mileage set to your current mileage. Maybe use that as a backup plan. You can try to take your speedo apart and replace the glass. If you end up ruining it, then get one from Curtis. Just remember what your mileage was.
Eric at bigdogpartskingpin has digital ones that can be set to mileage as well.

I was getting moisture in mine as well, turns out it was coming in at the rubber button for mileage/trip set. I was able to take the button off and using a hair dryer on the lowest setting (barely any heat) dried it out. Took a bit but it's an option. Then replaced the button carefully.
I ended up replacing mine with the Dakota Digital after a while.

You can but it not easy. You have to pry off the chrome ring from the back edge, go around and around 50 times.

it’s not necessary however to dry it out. Non of them are sealed well. You can pull the pug out of the back and put a vacuum hose on it.

Autometer used a grommet on the case instead of a waterproof strain relief. That combined with poor sealing at the bezel and the odometer button failure is what causes the issue. We break them down, clean everything, seal the electronics, install a quality metal waterproof strain relief, install a better quality bezel seal and purge them with nitrogen before sealing them back up.

I will look to get it fixed properly in the next few weeks what is the cost of fixing it vs replacement ? one other question is the Big Dog Speedometers the only speedometer that will work or do any better looking aftermarket ones fit and work ? anyone ?FYI I don't like the Digital Big Dog ones.

Curtis (KaptinAmerika) provided a link, with pricing information, in his first reply.
