Engine swap

Hi all 2005 big dog chopper right side drive. Has anyone done a engine swap on a chopper right side drive using something other than stock 117. Like a Evo or Rev tech etc.
Where there any major hurdles

No major hurdles there just little work and money...120 ultima will bolt right in and still use your primary and all those goodies....even a 127 will work...may i ask whats wrong with the 117.?...I see you live in Florida so that would be pricey project in a shop down there labor wise..

It's just tired I bought it used as a salvage bike 10+ years ago its leaking everywhere needs top end starting to have oil pressure issues
Primary leaking everywhere it's just time.

And I like the bike I've got an auto clutch set up I love and want to keep and I don't want to put $4kor $5k into it. I'll do the work no prob. And I don't have the equipment or energy to rebuild it I'm looking for a decent running low mileage direct or as close to possible bolt up using my transmission primary etc right side drive.

I'd be happy with an used Evo or any used bolt up engine I don't need a big motor just something reliable I've got 2 other bikes to ride I just like the style and look of the big dog chopper.

You can get a new ultima depending on what size motor for 4000.00...any good used s&s motor is going to be 3500 or more...its hard to find a motor of any good standards for less...i been where you are at its hard to make a decision on what to do considering the bikes worth and money to put it back the way you would like it

I contacted S&S (they always answer)
The said that the S&S Cycle V111 V Series Long Block Engine For Harley EVO 1984-2000 would work with my transmission and primary.

So that should mean any hd Evo 84-2000 should work. Correct?
If so that solves the problem I can pick up a used low mileage Evo relatively cheap. I'm not looking for all the power I just like the scooter.

I'm not into the 100mph stoplight bike thing either but I think an 80" might be a bit low for that bike. You're pushing way more tire than that 80 was setup for originally and the pulley has already been moved up to a 34 from 32. I think it would be a really sluggish starter off the line.
Maybe someone here with more knowledge can tell me whether I'm right or I'm wrong.

You may be right I'm kinda just think along those lines . I don't need none of the big ones something along the lines of 100in maybe 98 in S&S something that's not going to break the bank. Hard telling wife to stop going to Walmart but than drop 4k on a bike that old sitting next to 2 other bikes I just can't do it with a straight face

Yeah, I agree Mike. A harley 80" evo I think would be very underwhelming. What were they rated at? Like 60 hp or something like that? 6th gear would probably be unusable. It would probably be too steep for the engine to pull.
