Hi,

I am looking for a K9 and having a hard time finding a low mileage unit for sale. I have found one with 25K miles on it. It appears to be clean and straight. Seller states that an updated EHC and a new complete harness installed. Is there anything I should be looking for? What are your thoughts on the value of this bike? Concerned about the mileage and longevity…….

Thanks!

I wouldnt be concerned about the mileage as we have several members in the 100k Club. If you can lay eyes on it even better. Look for the obvious, oil leaks ect. Start n ride is helpful. Price is whatever someone will pay, much like everything. Do a KBB look n see if seller is out of line.

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
That’s a Dakota Digital speedo, so you don’t really know the miles unless you know the miles of the original speedo. Compression test would be OK too. Look at the pegs, grips, sand pitting on front fork lowers, etc.…..not a bad price for a decent running K9.

BroadBand

Since late 60's
Pic #3 of the VIN area, special attention to what looks like to be exposed bare frame/rust possible frame crack. Hard to tell from pic. Check front fork brace for chrome peeling (maybe poor polish job). Good luck.

Greetings folks, this post caught my attention. Haven't been around much lately. I have an '07 K9 with original 5400+ miles on it. I bought it used in 2010 and love this motorcycle. However, for many reasons have not ridden much in last 5 years. I am trying get it going again but simply just lost my interest in riding. Just had the EHC replaced with upgrade and it is running like a clock now. It is in need of some TLC for sure. I'll get some photos posted here along with the upgrades I've recently done. New very low mileage on F/R tires. New hand controls, foot pegs, battery. All parts were purchased through some good vendors here, BigDogPartsKingpin and Wild Steed Worx. Was hoping to get $12K for it. I'll work on getting some photos of the bike in next few days posted here.

p.s. Most 'upgrades' have been replacing parts on an 18 year old motorcycle even with low mileage.

Now the not so good photos and an explanation.
1. The divit on the front rim was from original owner [1600 miles] when I purchased used. He tried to jump a curb. I put in a tube and have never has an issue with air leaks. Now front/rear tires are new with very low miles.
2. The varmit damage photo was after Hurricane Ida in 2019. My home received significant damage and the BigDog sat under a cover for years while trying to repair my home. Either a squirrel or rat got in there and ate the rubber off the foot pegs, hand grips and started on the chrome on side cover. Reason why those were recently replaced.
3. Corroding chrome piece above front fender is an inferior part from BigDog.
4. There is some corrosion which I attribute to original owner having the bike stored in his garage with pool chemicals. Not good for the metal.

Beautiful bike. I wouldn’t choose that color but it looks good on your bike. The corrosion on the Crome pieces will only get worse and all the Crome probably needs to be replaced. The corrosion eats from the inside out and nothing else will fix it. The high humidity and omg pool chemicals are horrible for the bike. All that being said, the low mileage and being taken care of by you makes it desirable. The other stuff was just dumbass choices by the original owner that need replacing. I do think if you are serious about selling you may be a little high on your price given what needs to be replaced. Just my opinion, sorry just just like assholes we all have an opinion. I do wish you the best of luck with selling but must inform you that you will regret it. Just get out and ride.
