It's all hit and miss...some people have these problems and some have yet to experience any, even after several thousand miles.Hey....Ya'll are scaring the shit out of me with this new K-9 not starting stuff.....Knock on wood...with less than 500 miles...and just been thru the 500 mi. service...I thought I just might be home free!!! WTF!!!! :bang:
How? I've seen motors with manual switches, on the side, near the plugs. Are you saying to push in the covers on top of the rockers?i had the same experience and its the compression releases, not the switches ,one or both are hanging up,try pushing them in,
na Frank.....thats not a dumb question......I never knew what those were for either....til I joined this forum:lol: but yes....you push in on those covers on top of the rockers if you want to do the compression release buy hand..How? I've seen motors with manual switches, on the side, near the plugs. Are you saying to push in the covers on top of the rockers?
Sorry for the dumb question - never had a compression release bike before...
Lambo...those are the cheap releases on the sparkplugs. The real ones are the hole in the center of your rocker boxes. They are electric but can be pressed manually...
Your probably getting primary oil into the starter. It can be a problem on 05 and later BD's. The clutch can sling oil right up at the starter drive gear. ther is no support for the end of the jackshaft and the gear will deflect when it is initially engaged.A couple weeks ago, went on a 75 mile ride after work, got home and turned the bike off in the driveway. About 15 mins later, tried to start the bike to ride it into the garage, and nothing. Battery is fully charged. When I push start, all I hear is a brief click from the compression release. That's it. Dealership tows the bike in, and puts a new switch on it. I pick the bike up on Saturday, it starts right up and I ride it for about 25 miles. Get it home, and put in on the battery tender. Sunday, it starts right up, and we go for a ride. Ride about 35 miles outside of town, and stop for a bite to eat. We go to leave, and my bike is doing THE EXACT SAME THING as before. Turn the key, lights come on and battery is fine. Push RUN, and then hit "START" and all it does is click. So, had to have a friend come trailer me back into town.
Has anyone else run into this problem? HELP!
Bingo dude! I don't thing there is a seal available that will completely prevent the oil transfer....yet.:up:Good call dogvet... but the better idea would be open belt drive.
