9 plate vs 12 plate clutch

I removed and checked each of my plates. Everything is normal. No high heat marks or warping. Standard 12 plate.
I have used Trick Shift in my primary for about 15 years and with the previous and current clutch pack. Never had an issue. I'm thinking the slipping is just from time & everyday riding.
I'll look into additional options as mentioned throughout the thread.
Thank you all for the great information. 20240228_171604.jpg20240228_171549.jpg

Thank you all again for the guidance and education. Its been years since Ive fiddle-farted with the bike at this level so I am a bit apprehensive. Ive found and ordered a 12 plate pack.
Im looking at this ball & ramp kit. Your thoughts?

Is this clutch pressure plate the same as (click link).

Any further info or advice is welcome. Im staying with Trick Shift for the primary.

That’s what you need from Barnes. And yes that pressure plate is the one you want

If you have the stock pressure plate that’s likely where your problem lies.

Yeah, that's the ball and ramp you want. It was designed to go with the 9 plate, but they say it will work with the 12 plate. You just may have to fiddle with it more. That makes sense. The ramp is longer. That's why it's easier to pull, but this makes your adjustment window smaller. On the 12 plate, it would be even more critical because the clutch travel is being divided into more spaces, thus less clearance between each plate.

Please forgive my ignorance here...how would the new plate mount? OEM is 4 bolts.

Oh yeah the upgraded pressure plate looks just like that you have pictured at top. Go back to HDM inc you will see it in their listing.$125.00IMG_1809.png

Ok. I ordered a 12 plate stack from Energy One, hardened pressure plate from Donna and an EZ ball & ramp Kit.
I measured the new and old stack & an individual fiber plate. Here's the numbers I got from my mic.

50.78 = 2.037" new stack
2.47mm new fiber plate

50.34 = 2.036" old stack
2.45mm old fiber plate

I checked each individual old plate. No breaks or warping. All looked great. Perhaps the pressure plate is the issue?
Advice please. Thank you.

R&R'ed new clutch pack, hardened pressure plate & EZ pull ball & ramp kit. I measured old to new and found no difference in numbers. So we'll see if it works.

So when did they change to the easy pull?

& I assume I can just change those parts out & change the pull effort on a 03 boxer. As it's noticeably stiffer then my 04 chopper

I think they went to the 9 plate and ez pull in '08. I think the ez pull only works in the '05 and later bikes. That's what it says in the description anyways.

Thanks for the into. Wonder why my 03 is so much harder to pull then my 04. About to take apart primary on 03 so we will do some digging.

But a general ez-pull for a harley evo should work on the older bikes if its pre propreitary as far as I know (for what that's worth) I had bought an ez-pull for my BMC back in the day.

Hey all. Please dont laugh, I dont want to have to open this a third time.
I'm installing (well, reinstalling) a new EnergyOne 12 plate clutch pack in my 05 Ridgeback.

1) Does the thickest steel plate go in first or last? I saw a video that said the thickest goes in first. Not being disrespectful, but the delivery of the information causes me a little concern.

2) Are there supposed to be steel at both ends once installed?
Thank you for your help.
