Everyone here uses a tender of some type on their Dog (or should). I sell one called The Battery Minder Plus that a lot of guys use. It claims to desulfate the battery as it charges it prolonging the life of your battery. I tend to believe this as I have the original battery in my 05 Road King with 43K miles and it cranks like when new. I have them in stock and you can check them out here. $2.95 Shipping On The BatteryMinder Plus Charger/Maintainer at ValueTeck.

Thanks FiberSnake. Yes I am active. I am not a snipe. I am there counterpart. BM.. Only rates in the USCG. They are not real good with electrical shit though. I got the new battery w 325 CCA And she fired right up. My next ? is why do you need a trickle charger. What drains the battery??
Well good to hear that you got it running with a switch out on the battery. Seen the other post on the run/start switch. I had mine go out during the first year and some of the older models had a board that did not hold up that well. It is an easy thing to change out, however it does take some time and patients as well as paying attention to the detail, Does not hurt to have a a helper. One other items is that if not put right, the throttle will rub and the brake indicator may not work properly.

Like I said it is easy change out if one has an idea of what they or doing. If not sure, best is to take it to shop.

On the battery tender, if you ride every day or so and when riding do at least 30 min or so, no need for one. If not, it is a cheap investment and will give you longer life on the battery (though anything over 2 years is good) and help insure easier starting and more time on the road and not in the garage.

The battery will slowly discharge a little bit every day if not charged. The BD need full ability to turn it over and are good voltage. The Battery Tender will go along way to make sure it is fully capable.

Oh thank you for your service by the way and though you are a "Rope Choker" ;-) I thank you still the same. What unit are you at by the way?

Safe and enjoyable riding.
