Big Dog K-9 wont start - flashing turn signals

Tried jumping it and same result! I'll pull the battery and then see if I can find any shorts. If I had a short, wouldn't the voltage show lower than 13 V?

I don't think it was damaged. No sign of acid leaking out and voltage doesn't dip as the lights flash.
If it's a sealed battery they can be mounted sideways, just not upside down. If the bike was upside down we'd have larger issues.

Have you tried disconnecting the neg off the battery, let it sit for a bit, reconnect and try again? Your key switch is obviously working since you can turn it on and off. Have you tried cancelling the flashers when they kick on? What happens when you hit run/stop/run etc.? Do they just flash the whole time? I'm thinking it's stuck in some sort of fault status, maybe disconnecting the battery for a while will help it reset itself.

@Axel anything you know of in the stock EHC that would cause this issue after a bike fell over in the garage?

. I pulled the battery last night. I'll put it back in tonight and see if I get the same result. Inspected wires near battery and found nothing that looked bad. I'll try the battery again and if I still get nothing, I'll check the circuit board on the right side. Thanks again for helping.

Have you unhooked and reconnected the harness? Wondering if it just not firmly connected after being tipped.

What happens when you hit run? Does the ignition module light turn on?

When you open up the right control try jumping the pins manually to see if it does anything

If that doesn't work try a new battery.

Just hoped on the PC to see the pics of the down dog. I am sorry for your loss..lol

I now know to stay away from the wheeldock and keep my condor. Even though I went to their website and they define their system as better. I've left my bike on the wheel chock for weeks on the lift. Usually I strap it but...

https://wheeldock.com/pages/condor-vs-wheeldock

I particularly liked the part where it says it takes 2 strong people to unchock it. What?

Wheeldock

- Flat entry and exit of the chock. Only one person required to chock and un-chock the motorcycle.

Condor / Teeter Totter

- Usually requires two strong people to un-chock the motorcycle.

My dog fell over because I had the back of tire grab taken off to modify it. Bought it at BBBBBQ last year and they swore it fit a big dog k9. My son swears he didn't bump my bike, so it must have been a mouse that was really fat that mad it tip over. I like the wheeldock product, they just need to make a tiregrab that fits the k9. As sold it touches the fender.

Put the battery back in and same symptoms. In the process of removing the right controls. Thanks Marky Marc for all your videos. Otherwise I wouldn't feel confident enough to open it up!

Haha fat mouse?

I had to modify the cradle for the condor and trim it down a bit the bottom of the fender is low on the dogs.

ok I got some time this evening to troubleshoot. I took the right controls off and cleaned them up a bit. Before I put it back together, I turned the key on and the turn signal lights were not flashing and the headlight was on. The back of the right control board looked like it could have possibly shorted across two wires that were real close together with no insulation between them. I then put it back together and tried to start the engine. The first time I tried it clugged two or three times and then stopped. I hit start again and now it just clicks. So I thought to myself not enough CCA(Cold Crank Amps). I took the battery out and took it to Oreillys to have it tested. It tested good, but was older 3/14 date on battery. I decided to buy a new battery and installed into the bike. Now I have the flashing lights again. What the hell?

Take that hand control apart again since it seemed to work without it and manually jump the starter and see it if cranks you can do it with a paper clip.

Unplug the control board from the connector in the housing and stick the paper click on the JST connector running down into the bars into the bike on the ground (black) and Run (Red) Now check your ignition light is on the Thunderheart module.

Once the Thunderheart turns on.. take the paperclip and move it off the Red pin and onto the green wire pin and keep it on the black pin and she should crank.

Would have been easier if you tried that when you already had it apart...lol

Let us know what you find. Also, after reconnecting the board, make sure the board connector doesn't pull itself back out by getting caught on something while assembling the control. It is fairly easy for that connector to pop off.

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
Take the positive and negitive wires off the battery, that go to the EHC, and hold them together for about 10 seconds. This will reset the EHC. Also check the plugs at the EHC and make sure they are tight.

Plug EHC wires are nice and tight. Couldnt budge them with them screwed into the EHC. I'll check the Right side board again tonight and then update you guys.

I had a weird thing happen to me recently. I installed new boards in my bars, and they worked as expected but the other day my right one was doing the same as you, nothing. I took out the new board and unscrewed it. I plugged it back in just hanging there and it works fine, I bolt it back in and nothing. Something is shorting it out when bolted. It's just something to try to see if that's it.

Its the screw that's closest to the brake switch wire, it must be touching the solder pad on the wire
