Can ya give us anymore detail? Cam sensor again? and do you have Axels new EHC with the fuse? was the key on when you were checking the cam sensor or off? and did the headlight burn out or melt the connector? Sorry for all the questions but just trying to understand and get more detail.

When I first got bike out this year it would not start. No Spark. Bought a new cam sensor from WSW still no spark. After looking here on BDB found the old ehc was no longer giving a ground to the thunder heart ignition added a external ground wire and bam bike runs.
This was my third big dog ehc. So I got a new ehc from Axel. Installed it and set timing by ear. Bike ran great took about a 25 mile ride.
Yesterday I cleaned bike and some more today. Bike started and ran fine early today. Then went to go for a ride and bike had no spark.

I was turning the key on while cam sensor plug from thunder heart was unplug. Checking for power on red wire.

The sizzling continued after turning the key off also had to pull the fuse.
Wonder why the fuse didn't protect it from frying, but at least it has a 2yr warranty, but that don't fix the problem, something is shorting out. Did you still leave the extra ground hooked up even after putting in a new EHC?

Yes I did. Still can't see how that would hurt? It was a 10 inch 20 gage wire from battery neg. to mounting screw for thunder heart.

From what I remember all the grounds just short together inside the ehc.
You had said earlier that you had no spark and you also added the ground to the TH ignition before this and it started. Maybe its the TH ignition that took a shit internally, because why would the new EHC get fried when its fuse protected unless the TH ignition went tits up and sent power back thru the grounds to the EHC and caused it to cook.:oldconfused:
If you had to run an external ground to the TH ignition something wasn't right with it in the first place, thinking out loud here:oldroll:

The Thunder heart was good. It did not work because it only had 12+ volt going to it. The 12- was no good. It is bolted to the rear fender.

Apparently it took less than 25 amps to fry.

The battery box is isolated from the frame by rubber grommets right? but if you ran a ground back to the battery and the TH was screwed up, now it would tie it together with the battery ground you ran and the ground to the ECH
