Thanks to all , I am posting a picture of the new style engine sprocket cover. This is on a late year 08 K9 and as I understand , it is still a fake cover but you must remove the entire primary to get to the bolt that holds it in place. I have ordered a new primary o-ring and when I receive it I will remove the primary and confirm how the cover comes off
I'm not sure I got the picture in here or not .

Wow dude, not sure what's going on there. My cover is flush with the primary cover and doesn't protrude out like that. Must have been something BDM changed but it's not in the 08 maintenance manual. Could it be that somone put an aftermarket primary cover on it?

V said it and it is so , Late 08 and all 09 except the Ridgeback now have a Compensator Style Engine Sprocket on them . They needed more room so welcome to the new Primary.
Can anyone tell me what a Compensator Engine sprocket is ? I have one just don't understand it.

Well not the best explanation but it is multi pc. It is suppose to abbsorb some of the shock in the drive train. Hears a pic from J&P. You can see the curvy lines inbetween the two pcs, this gives it some play.

The protrusion had to be done to the cover as the compensating sprocket and hard ware would hit the old original style cover. I got hold to a 27 tooth comp sprocket and wanted to put it on my 05 to underdrive the bike a bit. Thats when I found out the stock cover would not fit. V

follow up on Engine Sprocket Cover

As promised I took a picture of the Engine sprocket compensator , the inside of the primary cover showing the system used to hold the cover on and last but not least why I wanted all the info.

Did you do a tooth count on the engine sprocket while you had it open? I thought they were 28 but can't remember :confused: Thanks V
