fuel leak

Have an issue brothers. I have no leaks from fuel system while the engine is running. When engine off, and fuel off, fuel will slowly drip from vent tube off the carb. When tank is low in fuel. no issue. When the tank is 1/2 plus, it will leak. Removed line to carb and with petcock off, fuel is slowly running through feed line. Assuming that the petcock is not sealing closed. Is the petcock able to be rebuilt, or replace only? Any experience with this?

I will verify that it is a Pingel. It is the original from 08, but I will have to see if there are any markings.

I have had fuel dripping from my carb overflow line twice before and first time the carb float was adjusted too high. Second time the fuel shutoff needle rubber tip was worn out.

Oops I forgot to put in there. If you search around on their site it talks about rebuilding them. Also what the price would be to rebuild it for you.

I would say you have 2 issues if the overflow on the carb is dripping. One, the float valve is probably dirty or bad allowing the bowl to overfill and your petcock is the other problem. If you don't address the float valve problem every time you forget to turn off you petcock your drip will still be there. Leaking only when the tank is half or more may be indicating your tank vent is not working well and allowing excess pressure pushing the fuel into the carb. I removed my vent from the cap and it causes no problem.

I will recheck the float. It seems to be fine, but makes sense that it shouldnt pass fuel if the valve is left on. Thanks for the insight, best guys out there.
