Handmade custom mirrors

Here's my story how I solved the "problem" with the original mirrors.
After several attempts to install aftermarket mirrors, I finally decided to return to the OEM style, but make my own adjustments.
I like the original Big Dog mirrors legs as they look (pictured #1 - top), but I don't like the length. When the mirrors extend past the edges of the steering wheel.
I only had the left leg of the original mirror, as the right one hadn't survived an accident on the road. So I decided to make my own OEM-style mirror legs, but with the width and height parameters I needed.
Firts of all I took measurements, bought a 304 stainless steel rod. After I ground it to the right diameter on a grinder. Then I made a rounding the edge of the workpiece on a lathe and cut the blanks to the right length (photo No. 1 - 2 pcs. below).

Next comes the bending, polishing and fitting of the blank onto the motorcycle (photo No. 2).

Then the mounting surfaces of the mirrors are milled (they are made at an angle relative to the axis of the leg bend) and "adrenaline" thread cutting in blind holes (photo No. 3 - 2 pcs. below).

And then the final installation of the mirrors on mybike takes place (photo No. 4,5).
The work took some time and required some machine work. But now I am happy with how the mirrors looks and how they are within the dimensions of the motorcycle handlebars.
All the best guys and have a great season!
Best regards from Eastern Europe!
