I am fucking pissed, Damage from a loose nut on the clutch assembly from before I bought the bike. Now the trans input bearing is shot! So much for Daytona. Glad I caught it before the whole trans took a shit but I doubt I can get it back on the road before Daytona.
Inner rubed,

No damage here, was allready fixed.

Gashed up Flanged Hub, from before.

Man that blows!

Yet, I would bet a local shop can fix that right up for you.

Good Luck!

BB,

That sucks for sure. Is there no chance you can get it fixed before Daytona, Still two weeks. Should not take too much time if the parts are available unless the shops are just so backed up in your area to get it done in time.

Can not recall if you bought it from a local dealer, a private sell or what, but if it was from a BD Dealer, maybe they can help push it since it was due to crap that occured before you got it.

Good luck and once again sorry to hear.

Help I need a real break down.

I am an old wrencher from the way back machine. ASE cert Auto/Heavy truck, Detroit Cert 53 and 71. Rebuilt my first bike in high school, pulled the trans down and replace third gear with no manual. Rebuilt Auto Trans, Manual Trans, Rear Ends and Transfer Cases.

It’s a $50.00 bearing; I need a real Baker break down. The BDM manual is a joke. Any help will be appreciated!!
P.S. Ray if you ship your bike I got dibs on the bitch seat!! Just kidding dude!

BB,

Hell that is even more reason to give it a shot, especially if you have access to the some of the tools that would help (Press, bearing pullers, etc). Hopefully someone will be able to help you with a detail breakdown and get you on your way.

If nothing else, give Baker a call and see if they can possibly overnight you the proper manual along with what you anticipate as minimum new parts (seals, bearings, gaskets).

Good luck and get to it so that you will not have to sit bitch on Raywoods pillon pad!

I will up date tomorrow. I have a local shop (not a dealer) I am going there in the am to see what they can do. If I can change the bearing and have them do the final adjustment I should be good. I may let them do it all, they are good dudes. I will yank it tomorrow night!!!

I knew I was gona wrench when the warranty ran out because I can’t afford it any other way but shit man!!!!

Where did you pick the scoot up from, dlr or private?

Is it possible the previous owner was not aware?

Nope BS BDM dealer in Stuart Fl. Had several recalls after sitting in the dealership for months before I bought it!! They did nothing but dump it. gave BDM the whole story no responce at all!!! Pinkie told me to get er in for the pending then when I got it back it was falling apart. my wrench from now on.

You know as well as i do.That if the input bearing is bad inside the trany then there must be metal in the oil.Go to bakers site check the tools you need to get the input bearing out.Looks expensive. I hear you on waiting forever but still worth a shot. Talked to central manager from bigdog while in denver at a swap meet this weekend about some of the things my dealership forgot to check out.One was the snap ring on the mainshaft. He told me to make an appointment and he would make it right.Sounds like bigdog is wanting to make things right for me.This story goes on but some of this might help you out!Key word that you said was previous work done--05chop Take lots of pictures while at daytona!

What happened there is that the grooves were put in the inner primary when the clutch carrier broke. Then when they pressed the new carrier on the hub , that is where those small grooves came from. When they pressed my old bearing off the hub they ruined it and I had to buy a new one ($50). The bearing probably went in the trans from all the shitty primary fluid that got past the seal and took the bearing.
