You know as well as i do.That if the input bearing is bad inside the trany then there must be metal in the oil.Go to bakers site check the tools you need to get the input bearing out.Looks expensive. I hear you on waiting forever but still worth a shot. Talked to central manager from bigdog while in denver at a swap meet this weekend about some of the things my dealership forgot to check out.One was the snap ring on the mainshaft. He told me to make an appointment and he would make it right.Sounds like bigdog is wanting to make things right for me.This story goes on but some of this might help you out!Key word that you said was previous work done--05chop Take lots of pictures while at daytona!
No metal in the trans so far, some very fine dust like in the primary (clutch I think).

Hey dude, there is a brown o-ring just outside of the bearing. On some bikes they added a shim between the o-ring and bearing. there were issues with the hardness of this shim...some nuts came loose.

If you remove the o-ring with a pick, you should be able to see the radius on the ID of the bearing where it rides on the shaft. If you can't see the bearing, it probably has the shim. Pop the seal and check for a damaged shim. That, a seal and an o-ring might just fix you up. It takes special fixtures to even pull out the gearset on those "balanced drive" trannies.

Trans is out! I flushed it out with brakeclean and didnt have any significant metal come out. I may have felt the gearing or somthing. I am dropping it of at the local shop in the AM and have them look it over. Have to tear down the carrier tomorrow night.!!
